Travel
Transport to Victoria: Victoria is located on Vancouver Island. Direct flights are available from Vancouver, Seattle, and a number of other cities to Victoria International Airport . Alternatively, you can get here from Vancouver via seaplane or HeliJet. Numerous ferries also come to the Victoria region, notably from Vancouver, Anacortes, Port Angeles, and Seattle. The ferries from Vancouver, Anacortes, and Port Angeles will take vehicles and foot passengers; the ferry from Seattle is for foot passengers only. - To get from Victoria airport to downtown Victoria you can take the shuttle bus (~$15), rent a car (Avis, Budget, Hertz, and National have outlets at the airport), or take a taxi (Yellow Cabs services the airport). Public transit service is limited from the airport.
- Pacific Coach Lines bus from downtown Vancouver to downtown Victoria (~$38), via BC Ferries.
Transport to and from UVic: - Driving directions to UVic:
- Taxi: There are many taxi companies in Victoria. Some have stands or free direct-phone dial at major shopping malls or hotels; to get a cab to UVic you will have to call in a reservation. Rates for taxi are $2.40 to start plus ~$1.40 per kilometre. Trips from downtown to UVic are typically ~$15-20; trips between downtown and the airport are ~$40-45. BlueBird Taxi (250-382-4235) has 3 wheelchair-accessible mini-vans, which are also available for excess luggage.
- Public transit is $2.25, with ten buses going to UVic from various locations. From downtown, the #4, #11, #14, and #33 go to UVic. For map and schedule information, including buses from other areas of Victoria.
