I plan to stay in the University residence: YES NO ________________________________________________________________________ PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP (no fee) Purpose: To acquaint participants with current issues in the debate about hypothesis testing, interpretation of "p" values, graphic presentation of data and confidence intervals as substitutes or supplements for hypothesis testing. Techniques for graphic presentation of data with confidence intervals will be demonstrated. Presenter: Michael E. J. Masson, University of Victoria Format: An overview of the issues will be presented followed by demonstrations involving computational and graphic examples. The session will conclude with a question period in which participants will be invited to present examples of their work and suggestions for alternative methods of data analysis and presentation will be developed.
